Essential oil can be extracted from trees, resin, flowers, fruits, herbs or spices. When we peel an orange, walk through a rose garden or rub lavender between our fingers, we are all aware of the special scent of that plant. A smell can influence our emotions and the correct use of essential oils offers a wide range of physical health benefits.
In my childhood I had probably difficulties to enjoy chamomile en peppermint tea but the healing power is quiet strong and traditional. Chamomile is not just used for abdominal irritation; it also helps if you got sunburn. The calming and relaxing effect can even support if you suffer from a sleeplessness or restless legs. Peppermint works in a cooling and refreshing way. In aromatherapy it increases the focus and stimulates the mind. The substance can take away your headache as well.
In total we have 25 types of essential oils. Here are two examples of proven blends which are used by us:
- lemon – lavender – ylang ylang for relaxation
- orange – rosemary – cedarwood after sport
We are thankful for all the gifts Mother Nature provides us. René Maurice Gattefossé is the father of aromatherapy, who devoted his life to researching the healing properties of essential oils.
